NO SLOGAN – Hochschule Hannover

Saskia Prilopp fulfilled a long-held dream by undertaking a second degree. In February 2026, she was awarded her Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design with distinction. Even whilst still a student, she was continuously involved with USE–LESS, the Centre for Sustainable Design Strategies at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts. She remains involved there to this day and learnt how, as a designer, she can significantly influence a product’s sustainability through both small-scale and far-reaching decisions. The knowledge she gained enabled her to develop an innovative zero-waste system. The approach combines intuitive draping with a cut that minimises waste and creates unique yet reproducible pieces. Her fashion not only celebrates individuality but also promotes the responsible use of resources, conscious consumption and an appreciation of materials, processes and craftsmanship. Saskia Prilopp’s fashion showcases diverse, creative approaches that enrich the industry. In her adopted home, the Wendland region, she will be organising a series of events, design camps, networking events and other formats focusing on sustainable regional development and transdisciplinary knowledge transfer, to promote science, research and education.

‘NO SLOGAN’ Inspired by the sociological phenomenon of the outsider, the collection exemplifies various aspects of sustainable design strategies, particularly with regard to the materials used and the manufacturing and cutting methods tailored to them. People. Materials. Methods. Their origin and raw materials also make these fabrics outsiders: fabrics from traditional manufacturers, production surpluses, faulty batches, valuable remnants; ranging from wool to innovative, synthetic fibres. Contrasts and nuances are also evident in the combination of twill, knitted and woollen fabrics in both vibrant and subtle colours. Unconventional yet suitable for everyday wear, the design challenges conventions and offers scope for personalisation and self-expression. The silhouettes combine one-cut patterns based on the zero-waste principle with conventional pattern construction, underlining the holistic approach. The overall concept, developed with a contemporary, ecological and ethical awareness alongside aesthetic standards, is itself an outsider. It stands for scepticism, self-confidence and authenticity. “NO SLOGAN” is experimental, analytical and creative. Standardised categorisations are superfluous. The design offers scope for discourse; it stands for a “both-and” approach and the freedom to reject, without fear, absolutism and ideology.
