Obsession

Meine gesamte gestalterische Arbeit ist geprägt von meiner Obsession mit Oscar Wilde. Für meine BA Kollektion ist der Protagonist seines Romans The Picture of Dorian Gray die Inspiration. Dabei geht es nicht um Kleidung „für Dorian Gray“, sondern vielmehr um eine Übersetzung verschiedener Aspekte des Charakters und seines Gemäldes in Kleidung. Ein zentraler Aspekt der Arbeit ist Grau, als Farbe, als Schatten und als Konzept des Dazwischen.

Verschiedene Gegensätze, wie Grau und Bunt oder Verfall und Ästhetik, sollen verbunden werden und so die verschiedenen Seiten von Dorian Gray und von seinem Porträt darstellen. Die Kollektion besteht ausschließlich aus rechteckigen Schnittteilen und größtenteils aus recycelten Stoffen und Stoffresten. Außerdem sind alle Kleidungsstücke verstellbar und somit unabhängig von Größe und Geschlecht tragbar.

Obsession

All my creative work is influenced by my obsession with Oscar Wilde. This collection is inspired by the protagonist of his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. Creating the collection was not about designing clothing „for a (modern) Dorian Gray“, but rather a translation of various aspects of the character and his portrait into clothing. A central aspect of the work is gray, as a color, as a shadow, and as a concept of in-between.

Different opposites and contrasts, such as gray and colorful or decay and aesthetics, are combined to represent the different sides of Dorian Gray and his portrait. The collection is made exclusively of rectangular pattern pieces, referencing the canvas and frame of the portrait, and it is made mostly from recycled fabrics and fabric scraps. In addition, all garments are adjustable and therefore wearable regardless of size and gender.
