Garments Without Fixed Directions: Exploring Playfulness, Participation, and Transformation
COLLECTION DESCRIPTION
No Direction explores garments without fixed orientations and prescribed ways of wearing. Inspired by traditional garment constructions and everyday practices from Myanmar, the collection investigates adaptability, transformation, and wearer participation. Through geometric construction, gathering systems, and transformable forms, the garments invite multiple possibilities of wear and remain open to reinterpretation and change. Rather than presenting a single correct way of dressing, the collection approaches clothing as an open system that encourages curiosity, interaction, and continuous transformation.
Nan Aye Thatar is a fashion designer whose practice explores playfulness, transformation, and alternative perspectives on clothing. Drawing from her Myanmar heritage and an ongoing interest in geometric construction, she creates garments that encourage interaction and remain open to change and reinterpretation. Through experimentation with form, proportion, and wearing systems, her work seeks to question familiar conventions and invite new ways of experiencing dress.
