„I’m Beautiful darling! And I know I’m Beautiful“ is inspired by ballroom culture. A history of marginalized voices that have been and still are facing homophobia, transphobia and racism. It’s about their resistance in creating a community based on self-expression, identity affirmation and communal solidarity, and their important role in the fight for liberation. This also led me to explore the topic of „Ugliness“ in the book by artist and political scientist Moshtari Hilal. Hilal sheds light on the ugliness that is closely linked to discrimination and exclusion, and shows which body identities are structurally hated, excluded, dehumanized and destroyed by our system.

Eine Geschichte marginalisierter Stimmen, die Homophobie, Transphobie und Rassismus ausgesetzt waren und immer noch sind. Es geht um ihren Widerstand bei der Schaffung einer Gemeinschaft, die auf Selbstdarstellung, Identitätsbestätigung und gemeinschaftlicher Solidarität basiert, und um ihre wichtige Rolle im Kampf für soziale Gerechtigkeit und Gleichheit.
