Mother Me – Hochschule Hannover

This bachelor’s thesis approaches the body as a site of discipline, control, and inner tension, as portrayed in the film Black Swan, and translates these themes into a fashion design collection. The starting point of the study is an analysis of the relationship between Nina Sayers and her mother, as well as the representation of the female body as a regulated and controlled system. The aim of the thesis is not to explain these psychological states through narrative, but rather to make them physically tangible through materiality, silhouette, and surface. The project is divided into an analytical and a design-oriented section. The outcome is the womenswear collection Mother Me,
which condenses themes of intimacy, dependency, and control into body-conscious basics, layering, and structuring silhouettes, understanding fashion as an expression of inner psychological states.
