wabi sabi - contrasting modernism – Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin
A unisex collection about the contrast of wabi sabi and modernism and how characteristics of both concepts combined can act as an approach for sustainable fashion.
Contrasts, but also the unification of different aesthetics, were the main inspiration in the design process, as well as the importance of time in design. The latter is expressed in the clothes in the form of transformability, meaning that the clothes can be worn in several ways.
In this way, the euphoria we experience when buying something can be prolonged, as the customer has the feeling of owning several pieces. The aim is to reduce the mass consumption in the fashion industry.
The printed fabric was digitally printed on sustainable cotton, while the rest of the fabrics are deadstock sourced locally.
