It’s a Boys Club – AMD Akademie Mode & Design
It’s a Boys Club emerged from frustration with the fashion industry, where positions of power remain predominantly occupied by men despite a workforce and consumer base largely made up of women. Through material experimentation, the collection creates space for emotional complexity, sensitivity, and strength. It reflects on how women have used clothing as a means of accessing and navigating male-dominated spaces. The collection explores extremes and contrasts, challenging qualities that are often perceived as weak and traditionally coded as feminine, and recontextualizing them as sources of power and resilience.
As a designer, I see it as my responsibility to reflect on the purpose and relevance of my work. My concepts are therefore grounded in thorough research and are often shaped by a combination of personal experiences and observations, as well as contemporary issues that resonate with me. My collections serve as direct visual translations of these concepts, evolving through experimentation with materials, construction techniques, and silhouettes.
