The youth lack its master – AMD Akademie Mode & Design
„The youth lack its master“ explores the declining bond between young and old. The concept points out conflicts and plays with the stigmas associated with today’s youth, but it also brings these generations back together and aims to show how important intergenerational cooperation and mutual understanding are today.
The looks portray young and old as apprentice and master, with visual inspiration coming from my youth, wenn my grandfather was my mentor. Artisanal techniques such as dying, weaving and several printing methods are used to translate traditional chore products to contemporary pieces and form the core of the collection. A leather manipulation technique has been developed – fusing leather with jersey – to symbolise the blending of craftsmanship and comfort, representing the two generations.
