The collection ‘I don’t think a designer works in isolation in a room, reads a book, and then says…’
explores the strengths of our personal perception of the everyday environment. It attempts to open
your eyes to the potential of what immediately surrounds you and explains how your own patterns
of perception can be transformed into a sustainable design language.
Jan Frederic Finzel (24) has been working in the field of sustainability since the beginning of his
studies. His focus is on researching and creating alternative approaches to design as well as finding
new textile oriented process technologies to visualize sustainable practices in a fashion context. His
work appeals to people who were previously unfamiliar with this topic and serves as an interestgenerating
encounter and informative platform.

setzt sich mit den Stärken personengebundener Perzeption des alltäglichen Umfelds auseinander. Sie
versucht die Augen für das Potenzial dessen zu öffnen, was einen unmittelbar umgibt und erklärt,
wie sich die eigenen Wahrnehmungsmuster in eine nachhaltige Designsprache umwandeln lassen.
Seit Beginn seines Studiums arbeitet Jan Frederic Finzel (24) im Bereich der Nachhaltigkeit. Sein
Fokus liegt im Erforschen und Kreieren neuer Designstrategien sowie dem suchen alternativer
textiler Verfahrenstechniken, um nachhaltige Prozesse im Modekontext sichtbar zu machen. Seine
Arbeit spricht diese Leute an, welche mit dem Themenbereich zuvor nicht vertraut waren und dient
als Interesse weckender Ansatzpunkt und informative Plattform.
