In-between perfection and coincidence – Hochschule für Künste Bremen
To what extent do perfectionism and coincidence play a role in my creative work – a central question that I address with this Bachelor Collection. By juxtaposing freely draped gowns and constructed formal-wear, I explore the dualism of these work philosophies. Each design is based on a pure coincidental moment during my creative process, captured and perfected into colour schemes, silhouettes, and design principles. Renouncing conventional patternmaking, the garments do not consist of a front and back with a side seam, but a left and right side that is cut on the bias, allowing them to fall into place. Suits and evening gowns are sculpted around each model’s body taking in account their individual properties and measurements. Aside delicate silk opposing strict virgin wool pinstripes, I present further parallels in materiality, between the artificial and the natural, in connection with perfectionism and coincidence. Accessories made of second-hand fur dipped into porcelain and coated with platinum, hand smithed sterling silver combined with ethically sourced butterfly wings or upcycled vintage handbags follow these themes of duality.
In Hamburg geboren (1998) und aufgewachsen, studiere ich seit 2017 an der Hochschule für Künste Bremen im BA Studiengang Integriertes Design. Bereits in den ersten Semestern, bin ich mir meiner Leidenschaft für Mode und die Schneiderei bewusst geworden. Anhand von vielfältigen, interdisziplinären Projekten konnte ich meine Kenntnisse und Fähigkeiten ausbauen. Im letzten Teil meines Studiums hat sich Keramik als zusätzlicher Schwerpunkt herauskristallisiert. Neben herkömmlichen Gebrauchskeramiken spezialisiere ich mich auf Accessoires im Zusammenhang mit Material- und Oberflächenexperimenten. Ziel ist es hierbei, mein stilistisches Gesamtbild des Modedesigns zu perfektionieren. Unkonventionelle Schnittgestaltung, gegensätzliche oder experimentelle Materialien, Konfektion und Drapage sind für meine Arbeiten zentrale Merkmale.
