Deep Dive – Kunstuniversität Linz

Dive into the depths of clothing collection containers. In her collection, Anouk explores how discarded garments can be transformed into new design processes. She retrieves sportswear, swimwear, and nylon tights from the containers. The found materials are transformed into wave-like drapery, bright blue bomber jackets, and sheer knitted tops. Repeatable silhouettes emerge from the patterns of brittle swimwear. Kitschy sporty prints turn the pieces into one-of-a-kind garments and reference the visual codes of overfilled clothing collection containers.

Anouk Ava Oltmanns grew up in Bremen and has been studying Fashion & Technology at the University of Art and Design Linz since 2023. In her artistic projects, she collaborates with the used garment center Linz and develops concepts that rethink design processes using discarded clothing as a starting material. Outside of university, she volunteers alongside friends and fellow students at the open clothing repair workshop “Aufmotzen,” where she shares her knowledge of clothing repair.
