Aida Ruiz - Fachhochschule Bielefeld
Hosted By – Fachhochschule Bielefeld
Aida Ruiz is a Basque fashion designer based in Barcelona.
She holds a Fashion Design degree from Hochschule Bielefeld and a technical diploma in Pattern Cutting and Garment Construction from Spain.
Her work merges solid craftsmanship with an experimental, emotional approach. She focuses on oversized silhouettes, nontraditional pattern cutting, textile manipulation, and reusing existing forms to create garments that are both expressive and functional.
Deeply inspired by childhood, nostalgia, and human emotion, her collections explore the tension between individuality and belonging. Color, texture, and volume are central to her language, with each piece designed to comfort, soften, and give voice to the wearer.
Her BA project, “Hosted By,” revisits childhood memories of playing dress-up in her mother’s clothes. Featuring oversized, colorful garments inspired by food aesthetics, the collection blends innocence with sophistication. It invites playful self-expression and fosters a sense of community through shared emotional and sartorial experiences.
