Underdog – Hochschule Hannover

This work uses the underdog metaphor as its guiding motif. It explores identity, adaptation, resistance, and creative resilience, shaped by narratives of the past and experiences of migration. Tailoring and denim techniques are brought together, while the materials carry their own “accent,” where heritage and the present intersect.The design process is grounded in perseverance and continuous learning. Working directly with the material under real conditions, each piece evolves step by step. Through slow-fashion methods, limitations become opportunities for creation. Where the system leaves gaps, more is achieved than expected: staying attentive, improvising, and finding new paths forward. Craftsmanship and manufacturing standards are reinterpreted, while uniform codes are visibly referenced and placed in a new context.Visibility can shift—remaining understated or being deliberately revealed. When words are not enough, symbolism, material, silhouette, and coded references speak instead. The result is a subtle and precise visual language
that challenges conventions and establishes its own enduring aesthetic.

The designer reflects on personal influences and different stages of life shaped by experiences of migration and cultural identity. Materials connect memory and vision, translating biographical traces into a unique visual language. Norms are deliberately broken and redefined, creating new structures
